I'm pretty sure you'd be a bit miffed, if you paid a 'discount price' for say, a cheap car, only to find it was a bag of hammers, and there was no hope in hell of getting your money back.

This £35 for a logo is very depressing your just going to end up with a very unsuccessful useless logo.
Unfortunately like everything if you want quality you have to pay for it.
What is the budget for this rock band logo/brand, I assume you have a budget for travel to gigs, recording studio, equipment etc etc. The logo / identity is going to communicate to people what your band or an image of your band is all about, is that not important?
People who haven't heard them play will make a very quick judgement based on the logo and marketing material, if it looks like it a load of c**p then I doubt they will come along.

There's some serious snobbery on this forum these days. Everyone has to start out somewhere guys, even if it is designing logos for college bands. Yes, this is a forum for professionals, but I know that as a student I find it massively helpful to get advice from you guys, and the little jobs like this where the client obviously doesn't want anything too professional are useful beer money for people like us.
(The photoshop bit made me laugh though).
I'm a 'snob' and I don't mind admitting it. But that's because I've grafted and worked thru all the crap and shit to get where I am today, only to find my experience eroded by 16 year old the £20 logo boys. So I am very protective about my industry as I don't play at being a designer, it's my living
The issue is not so much giving not young bucks a break, which I agree you all need. The problem is designers, pro and students are getting thrown into the same melting pot and it's impossible to differeniate the good, bad, average, amazing. To some ( 'clients' and designers it's just about price)
Everybody wants something for nothing or next to nothing, which is wrong.
Maybe it should be a forum rule thatvbefore anybody posts a request for work, they should stipulate a budget in the first post and the level of designer they seek. This may then create some separation between forum members and let everyone know who the work is targeted for. Thyen everyones hackles wont get raised.
