Why only UK-based designers if all business sounds like it will be done through email / over the computer? You're being discriminatory, aren't you?

onesummer, I wish you would keep an open mind before accusing me with discriminatory actions. My reasons are totally practical, i.e. money conversions and bank charges.

I have an open mind, but you should have originally explained the reasoning. Obviously, the statement with no explanation could be taken negatively. And I've dealt plenty with money conversions and bank charges, they do it all for you these days, just be sure to inform the person who you hire that such charges will come out of the compensation for the work. I recently traveled to Spain, then to France, and then to Italy and had no money related issues, though I did incure small fees for the conversions, by no means was it difficult or hard.

But hey, you're the one who's doing the hiring, so of course you will hire who you want. Just wanted to make my point of it being silly to limit it to only UK people. Now, if your reasoning was that you want to do business face to face, well that would make sense then, but you made no mention of that in this situation.

I work with people from all over the world, when there is budget. Since last night, I have been receiving endless emails from overseas designers for this small logo job, most of them asking about the money side of things. I don't have time or funds to do what people want. End of the story.

Do what people want? Huh? You're the one offering the job, if they want it, they do it your way. All you do is take any charges fees out of the compensation you will pay them for the job and let them know that upfront. There's nothing else to it. Simple.
