The role of the lead designer is to 'wow' clients with innovative, creative design that stimulates value for their business – Whilst acknowledging the importance of working within client budget and time restraints.

You will be responsible for creating high quality and innovative designs for a range of different clients - from small start-ups to large blue-chips. The work typically includes corporate identities, stationery and promotional material through to brochure and newsletter layout.

Whilst the primary activity is design for print, web design is also a requirement. Ideally conversant with current styles and techniques, you should be able to show a portfolio of live sites that reflect your capability.

This role would also benefit from someone with account management or account handling experience.

Typical activities include:

- Taking the lead on customer briefs
- Advising our clients on design issues and options
- Designing stationery and promotional material based on the client brief
- Ensuring files are technically correct before sending them to print
- Liaising with clients throughout the lifecycle of their job, from the initial enquiry to delivery of the finished product
- Order administration
- Creating and nurturing relationships with clients and exploring business opportunities

You will be Mac trained with real experience of In design and Photoshop along with a good knowledge of Quark and Illustrator. As above, you should also have knowledge of web design, PHP, CSS, Flash and W3C standards compliance.

Ideally, you will have 3 – 5 years experience working in a studio environment. You will have a varied portfolio that will show us you have the creativity and ability to do the job. That said you must be willing and able to learn new skills.

You will be a stickler for detail (because we are). You will be able to advise and assist colleagues where necessary, to work under direction as well as unsupervised. You must be good at dealing with people as our clients are our lifeblood and we believe they deserve the best.
