It's not always distance I don't think, but time.

I used to work (in house) 11 miles away. A 25 minute journey on a quiet day, but 30-40 minutes in rush hour.

I'd not like a longer commute than that.

Currently my commute is around 5 seconds - 20 with a cup of tea in hand.

5 seconds seems a bit long for me. I like to literally roll to my right, pick up my laptop, and roll back. 3 seconds tops.

The job I left to go freelance was an hour each way, needing to be at my desk and working by 8am.
Up at 6:30 everyday and home by 6:30, earliest ... for £18,500 p/a.
Job before that was an hour on the tram each way.

Now it's a 20 minute walk, which I like as it wakes me up. Couldn't do the work from home thing.

It all depends on journey time. I used to have a 20 mile journey, but it could take me up to 2 hours with M6 traffic. Now I have a 20 minute walk to work, saves me hours every week and saves me about £200 a month in petrol.
