Hi!
Terapad.com allows anyone to create feature-rich, 'web 20' websites in seconds. Our users crave good quality graphics and that's why we are posting today on these forums. We're looking for CSS designers to build templates for Terapad. We're starting with a first run of 5 templates for which we'll pay USD $100 each. You can submit just one template or build all 5, but they all have to be submitted within 2 weeks. We of course have specific requirements for this job which I list below. Let me tell you a bit more about our platform. Terapad (Terapad.com - The last website you'll ever need) already hosts 8,100 sites. The way it empowers graphic designers and web design agencies is unique: Say you have a client who wants a site with forums, online shop and content management system. Usually, you'd have to write all that code yourself and sell the site for say, upwards of $5,000, spending time writing code debugging, testing etc. Your margin is low, the number of sites you can create in a year is low. With Terapad, you simply have to create a CSS for the site, enable the features your client needs, and you have produced a proven site in days while making a generous margin (Terapad's pricing starts at free and averages at 14 dollars a month). So as you can imagine the 5 templates we're looking for today is just the tip of the iceberg. We're going to need (a lot, think thousands) more templates and more importantly, a network of resellers towards who we will direct our clients based on geographical location. We're not interested in direct sales, so say we know of a dozen sites that need graphical customization in California, and we know a designer or agency in LA that have produced good graphics for us in the past, we'll direct them there. You can therefore think of these 5 templates as a way for us to get introduced to your skill set, and add you to our list of partners. Now, onto the requirements themselves: we're looking for 5 templates. We do not have particular 'themes' in mind, as long as they do not overlap with what we've already produced (see our site signup page for the full list). We require however, that they be original, unique, and very importantly that they be 100% functional. Meaning that they be presented already deployed on a Terapad site, working cross-browser, cross platform and adapt perfectly to our framework (ie, they do not break as the user enables or disable site modules, adds content and so on). We will not purchase all templates produced: instead we'll purchase the first five that meet our standard of quality. For an idea of the quality we're looking for, look at our site, study the templates that are there. We'll update all designers participating in the project via this thread and/or via email, depending on what you prefer. I'm for 100% transparency so this public thread seems the right place. Our framework is very easy to use and was built with flexibility in mind, still I'm sure participants will have plenty of questions about it - feel free to contact me directly via email at 'st at terapad.com' or post your questions on this thread and I'll do my best to reply quickly. In the meantime, good luck and I look forward to see what some of you or your companies can do! -- Stephan Tual Technical Director Terapad.com - The last website you'll ever need |

Hi,
My name is Kimberley. I'm a Graphic Designer. I own a Freelance Graphic Design business called Kimberley Creative. I would love to design some web templates for you. I noticed on your website when you sign up to making your own website the templates consist of a box within a box. There is a box with a pattern, then a box inside it which you put your pictures and text inside. What dimensions shall I make each box? Hope this makes sense. Thanks Kimberley

Hello Kimberley, The templates on our site indeed look similar. To be very candid, it's something we'd like to see changed and one of the reason why we are reaching out to the web to find new designers - and therefore new approaches. There is therefore no particular dimension the boxes 'should' be. However, the template itself should work with a complete Terapad site, meaning they should be deployed on a Terapad site (it's free of course) before they are presented for review. It will help us judge the quality of the CSS as well as the quality of the design itself. I hope this answer your question. If there's anything else, please do not hesitate to let me know! -- Stephan Tual Technical Director Terapad.com - The last website you'll ever need |
