Since you're interviewing, you're looking for a freelancer local to Bristol?
Compass Film CIC is an established not-for profit cultural organisation based in Bristol. We are committed to showcasing marginal film culture, as well as community Arts. We are seeking a creative individual to create the layout and design of the print programme for the 3rd Compass Festival in Bristol – The Compass of Mystery Festival 2008. The festival has a heritage of innovation, and the annual iconic artwork is central to our vision. We seek to celebrate the rich design talent of the South-West, and to promote up-and-coming designers with fresh ideas and great skills.
About the programme
This is a full colour, 32 page programme. It is printed lithographically and distributed throughout the region, nationally, internationally and electronically. The cover illustration work has already been carried out, and you can view the final design on the homepage of Compass Film (Home | Compass Film Ltd). The interior design of the programme should tie in closely with the cover illustration work, and reflect the theme of the 2008 festival – mystery – and general ethos of the festival.
The successful candidate will have:
• Flexibility to work on the project between June–August, with a view to delivering the final programme at the beginning of August
• Competence in using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop (Acrobat & Illustrator would also be helpful)
• Creative vision
• Excellent communication skills
Please apply with a full CV, cover letter and some examples of previous work at the earliest convenience to Sam King (sam@compass-film.co.uk). PDFs of previous Compass Festival programmes can be supplied on request. Applicants must be either involved in or have had undergraduate tuition in graphics design.
Closing date: Thursday June 12th 2008. Interviews will be held in central Bristol on the evenings of Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th June. We ask that you think carefully when discussing availability to ensure that you are able to commit to this role. Please note this a voluntary project.
I would imagine they're looking for anyone willing really. If you're living in america or somewhere but you're willing to go to Bristol for an interview and work as a volunteer, then i imagine that wouldn't matter to them.
Subtlety is my middle name... and first and last in case you didn't get the point.
