I work 9-5 as a software developer for a financial company, so I only do graphic design in my own free time. So far I havn't been charging anyone for anything apart from the poster I made for 20 euro last week (http://www.dzyne.net/xtra/markkav-1.pdf).

I guess if I start making a regular income from it I'd wanna be legit. I'd imagine that's expensive though :(

It's one of those industries where people think that can undercut and get it cheaper or free, because there is so many designers and always someone wanting a portfolio piece or whatever... Fact is though, good design costs money. My hourly rates maybe half what cre8 is charging, but the once I've got a nice body of work, I'll charge more. Generally the more experience you have, the more it's fair to charge.

not really. You play to your strengths.. I can't really draw either. I can scribble enough to communicate stuff, and I have the old doodle into my work but drawing is by no means required now. It helps, but..meh.

Fact is, there are loads of people who CAN draw or illustrate or design, or code or seo or ....you name it. So don't try to compete, and simply concentrate on the areas you can. The trick is to then diversify into other areas to compliment your skill set, but not soooo far you stretch yourself too thin.

Great advice, thank you :)

I can code and design, so I guess I better concentrate on combining them well first :)
