Another question - Ive got my footer done now and it works - unless as can be seen below on the test page the content of my left-column is bigger than that of the right-column.

TEST PAGE

Ive added clear: both; to my footer-container but the container only seems to clear the right-column....

any help??

Code:
#footer-container {
	text-align: center;
	background-image: url(images/footerfade.gif);
	width: 100%;
	position: absolute;
	bottom: 0;
	bottom: -1px;
	height: 106px;
	margin: auto;
	clear: left;
}
This says clear: left not both?

Ok, Ive had a look at that site and it seems that with a bit of fiddling i can either have the footer clearing both content divs OR what I have now where it stays at the bottom of the screen unless pushed further own by the right-column . . . WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!?!?!

this is getting really frustrating!

thanks for everything so far btw.

Try following this from start to finish...

Floatutorial: Tutorial 8 - Step 1

Looking at the code it seems some of it was copied from somewhere and some of it could be conflicting

I'll have a looka t that hen I can find the time. The thing is though, it seems that I can only have either the footer clearing both columns OR the footer at the bottom of the screen clearing the right column if further down....

Tommy, the code you gave me was for my exisiting website . . . not the one that I am trying to develop which is here : footerStick - Footer sticks to bottom of page

If you would like to give me/change my existing code so that my footer will be at the botom of the screen unless the content of EITHER two of my content columns push it further down I would be very grateful ;)

thanks anyway....
