Default Validation Error

I'm stumped...
Why do I get a validation error with this line:

Code:
<td background="images/tablebackgrounds_01.gif"><table width="799" border="0" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="10">
but not this line:

Code:
<td background="images/tablebackgrounds_02.gif"><table width="799" border="0" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="10">

It tells you the background element is not available with Transitional. Use a background image in the CSS

I don't use CSS for the design except for fonts, variations of and the main background image.

I still have no idea why it is erroring out the one line of code when the exact same line (with a different image) is used elsewhere on the page.

Change your doctype

But best bet is to start using CSS for your websites.

Do you not use CSS out of protest or is it cause you dont know how to use it?

I have no interest in doing purely CSS web sites.

I still am not seeing why it errors out one line but not the other...

Then don't expect your sites to last very long

There's no reason in trying to validate a site with all those td's all over the place

Ok, then I won't bother worrying about that line then.

Not everyone has to follow the CSS craze. It's sad that someone gets rude replies when they don't follow what others think is the only way (or "right" way) to do things. Thank goodness the programmer I pay to do some of my more complicated programming doesn't behave this way...He sure wouldn't be working with me on anything if he did.
