I find that the best way to understand code (esp CSS and tableless) is to save a site that you like (and that is tableless) to your hard drive and open it up in Dreamweaver (or whatever) and analyse what works and how. But please, don't steal code lol, you wont learn anything and it's wrong. But yeah, just analyse other code and use what you learn from it to make your own design(s).

If you know Tables based design the Jeffery Zeldman's classic "Designing with Web Standards" is a must.
"Head first HTML, with XHTML and CSS" is a good book for the basics. Then move on to: "CSS Mastery" by Andy Budd "Bulletproof Web Design" by Dan Cederholm Boagworld has a great podcast on web design and the forum is a really good resource. Finally, Linda.com tutorials are great. Last edited by richquick; 14-09-2007 at 07:27 PM. |
