Default IE Problems as usual

I should know how to fix this but i'm having difficulties and wondering if anyone could help me.
View this page in IE:
University of Missouri - Tuba and Euphonium Studio

I floated the left column and set the maincontent by setting margin left to 300 something. I have not used any positioning, iv'e experimented with it but i'm having difficulties.

Also,
What is the best way you recommend to make the two columns equal in length, so that hey go all the way to the bottom of the screen.

Right, what you need to do is put the CSS for #rightcolumn and the css for #maincontent in the head of every page instead of in a remote .css file. Then you have to type an identical height for the two divs in each individual page as you make them. Hope that made sense.

Hmm,
Thanks alot. That seems really simple and i had never considered embedding the css for the two segments in the html file. Thanks

Alright new problem. The website looks nearly perfect in firefox, but is a disaster in internet explorer. I can't seem to get it to work. Any suggestions?

Regarding the column that's dropped down, it's a common IE problem. Because the two div's must touch, IE forces one onto a new "line" as it were. The only way round that I've found is false columns.

Keep #rightcolumn @ 171px wide floated left but make #maincontent 660px floated right. The put the background on the contentwrapper div instead of on each of the two.
Hope that made sense, it probably didn't.
