You may have something like a container div for placing all the other divs. Change your CSS file, and add the border to the proper container div.
Another thing, don't use DIVs as if they were font tags. That defeats the purpose of the CSS, which is to separate layout into a separate CSS file. |

|
Tableless? Is your background in your css? Float the whole thing in a wrapper allow border to expand.
