Default Picture Frames

Ok - I am doing a site that needs to have the picture in the middle of the page. Then on the right hand side will have a bunch of different picture frames. Then when you hover over top of the frames they will apply the hovered frame to the picture. I have been able to accomplish this with the a:hover and span attributes; but, my problem lies in the leaving portion. When my mouse leaves the frame I want the last frame I hovered over to stay applied to the image. Does anyone know of a CSS attribute that would accomplish this.

I really want to try to keep it CSS - for accessibility reasons. Thanks for the help.

This kind of works as a CSS Rollover Gallery except you have to click to get the picture to remain but what doesn't work is when you rollover another image it still changes.

If you're using a:hover there is no way the frame will remain selected after you move your mouse pointer away. You could replace your a:hover with a:active and have your users click instead of hover.

That's very jumpy for a gallery style

What's the accessibility issue with doing this through javascript? It would be so easy.

I have deja vu. I am sure this exact thing has been requested before ages ago.
