just found this post.. old post, still a great effect.

Anyhow.. I use Stu Nicholls for reference on various CSS questions..
I am trying to learn more on Opacity and he happens to have a pretty good one here.

More on CSS "Flyout" Menu techniques here... (since I just saw someone aska question about this subjct it stuck out in my mind)
