He's not an amateur to web design so I assure you of his great works. He has had many clients and have made many websites from different niches. His designs includes pure CSS/XHTML, flash, PHP, and more.

If he's that good, why hasn't he mastered the title tag? And why doesn't his site validate?

they all just look like layout templates to me. if your gonna fake web design and not actually have the pages linked at least put the IE or Firefox browser window around it. anyone can make mock-ups and say they a a designer.
make it seem real if you wanna fool pros.

your portfolio site doesn't scale well. making your site hit the bottom (style="position:absolute; bottom:0px;" ?) is just abnormal. i don't know of anyone who would be impressed by that much blank space at the top of the screen. (i run my rez @ 1680x1050)
