You might want to spell "Designs" in the correct fashion, typographers can be fastidious about such things.Maybe something encouraging would have been better?

Yep, he has to start somewhere.
It would be hard to get members here, as it is such a well established forum with talented designers. The banner instantly put me off it, as it has a very common free font with a massive web 2.0 reflection. Not really something that would invite designers to your forum.
