Proposed changes to US copyright law must be opposed as strongly as possible.
The following article published in the Editorial Photographers UK website, makes for very worrying reading. The US, although signatories to the Berne convention, have long had a somewhat unique perspective on copyright law, and have enacted numerous bills over previous decades to amend, subvert or by-pass many of its core principles. This newly proposed "Orphan works act 2008" bill however, goes further than ever before and will effectively hammer in the the final nail as far as the individual freelance creative is concerned.
