i don't want to use cutting edge or sharp or knife, to aggresive!

In belgium we use actueel..its a verry beautiful word, and means most recent or something like that, we use it for example in :
"museum voor actuele kunst" wich means: museum for recent art

you understand? actueel stands for everything that is design now and not old fassion..like another example for actueel= the news
news wich you see on television is actueel.

Another example is high tech stuff, like: new ibook air, or gps...those are new things that did'nt exists a few years ago...

So i am searching for a word that is the same in english..hard to find, when you don't speak the lanquage that very well...
