Acuity, i'm not sure that's a good idea. Constantly re-saving a jpeg will keep reducing its quality. A lossy copy of a copy of a copy of a copy etc... Even saving at the max quality, you'll still get some nasty artefacts in there. And some spanner is bound to save it at less than max quality too and screw it all up.
If not PSD, then use TIF or TGA.
