Fact is, the logo seems like a easy and simple design task, but it's not. It is really the personification of the brand in visual form, the forward-facing link point. It is not the brand however, only a part of it. The fact is, if you're supplying a logo, it can be fairly low, and if it's the whole logotype usage, more again. If it is a brand, ready to go, then more 0's can added.
The girl would invented the nike logo was a student and got $50 or something (and later a gold watch and stuff, when they did well). The logo is perhaps the simple bit here, the application of that logo is more complicated. But a crap logo can't be applied well, so the two do go hand-in-hand.
