well, all your rendering is dependent on your video processor. I think you will come into the shortcomings when you try to connect ANY laptop to a TV. You may consider going the standard tower route, either PC or Mac, if you intend to render it on a larger screen.
I lean toward PC environment as it is seamless integration... macs are very good at rendering on THEIR screens, but also VERY proprietary in nature. If you insist on a Mac, you may consider a Cinema Display
