If your webhost provides you with the necessary info for uploading your pages, access your Databse, it should be doable. I advice you to dive into the topics of PHP, Apache, MySQL though, webhosts expect you to have some decent knowledge about it. Xammp is nice, but if you want to get serious and want to start hosting clients you need to know what is going on.
