lolly, any link is helpful really. there's no such thing as a bad backlink. How google treats your links is as follows. You get a pr3 backlink, yet there are 500 links on that page, you ony end up getting a tinnny bit of that link juice. Say it's a pr3 site and only shows your link, you'll get a huge chunk of that PR.

When you submit to a directory, please don't let Page rank be your primary concern, it's the valuable traffic directories send your way that you should be interested in. Pick the most relevant spot and stick it in as many directories as you can, pr0+ that way you get more direct traffic coming from there. In my opinion, especially after google spanked most directories and dropped their pr, directories should be used to increase targeted traffic and not be associated with PR building. my 2cents..take it or leave it :)
