I normally charge $60 an hour. I don't do per-job on fliers, unless I have a prior written agreement. The amount of revisions that would happen without some sort of agreement would be overwhelming if you would do it by job. I recommend you be upfront with your experience and tell them why you are doing this.
$5 for a design would be less than something you would buy off of a template website.
