Mac Operator / Graphic Designer for Commercial Printer in South Derbyshire
The role would involve dealing directly with clients, from small start-ups to large corporate businesses, taking briefs and creating suitable artwork within commercial time scales agreed with the client and in-house production schedules.
Designs would cover such areas as company logo's, branding, design of company stationery items and a full range of marketing materials, leading to preparation for print, resulting in preparing files for CTP system. Production of digital work is also completed directly from the studio.
Successful candidate should be used to working in a busy environment and to tight deadlines. An organised approach, attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to move swiftly from one assignment to the next a must!
The position would suit a person with a positive attitude, enthusiastic, and hands-on, with good organisational skills and the capacity for forward thinking.
Qualifications/Experience
Candidates should have good working knowledge of Mac OS and should be skilled at working with the following software packages - QuarkXPress, Freehand or Illustrator, Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat.
Other key skills are:
- A good working knowledge of print processes, litho and digital is essential
- The ability to create, formulate and present ideas from the start through to completion
- Ability to produce print-ready artwork including pre-press and reprographic
- 3 years proven experience
- Excellent command of written English with copy accuracy
- Web design experience would be of an advantage, but it is not essential for this particular role.
Hours would be arranged by mutual agreement and remuneration would be based on relevant skills and experience. This position is able to be tailor-made to fit the ideal candidate and their current situation.
