The second version is the one I prefer, but I too think the white space is a bit odd. What if you lower the J so the bar fits
under the loop of the P? It would make it more obviously a J too (I thought it was a 'T' at first). I'm not a big fan of Bauhaus typeface either (especialy that 's' hanging so precariously off the edge of your name!). Bauhaus is kind of fat and awkward. The curves are nice, but maybe try something a little more contemporary like
