Overall it looks very nice, Dan! I have a few suggestions:

1. Don't use justified text. It creates really bad gaps, especially see the third column (right most).

2. Perhaps this is more work than it's worth, but I think it would love really snazzy to add a translucent white box with a thin white stroke (perhaps with rounded corners!) behind the text--three of them, one for each column--similar to the dark bar you have for the navigation.

3. Really picky: Its should be It's (apostrophe), first column, first paragraph, first word under the web design sample. It's really picky, I know.

4. Lancashire, which country? Not all of us live in the UK ;)

5. Add some kind of roll over effect to the navigation so we can tell when we're hovering over a link (something besides the cursor change). Add an underline or something like that.

6. I really like that text effect in each section (section name is in black in the header). Perhaps you want to center it? The Graphic Design one looks funny to me because it's almost wide enough to touch both edges but it doesn't quite and it looks like a mistake. It looks ok for shorter titles like Portfolio, though.

Overall, great job! You have some beautiful, bright, fun photographs. I think you're choices for those are top notch. Your site design is sophisticated, "designerly" and professional.

I hope my suggestions help make it that much better :)
