OK .. here's my advice. Get 3 clients at $15 a logo.
Then double your rate.
Then get another 3 clients.
Then double your rate.
Then get another 3 clients.
Then double your rate.
Keep doing this until you start finding that over 25% of people are turning you down on price.
Then stick at that rate.
You'll be surprised at what people will pay .. I guarantee it's higher than $15 a logo.
I know 1 local designer who charges £500 a logo ($1000). He gets a lot of work because he's considered cheap. We charge a significant amount more than that for corporate ID work.
They key is not to blink or flinch when you tell them. You've got nothing to apologize for. Just say - I charge X for a logo. Then shut up. More often than not, they'll pay it. If they don't .. no big deal .. just move on to the next client.
