Hidding any text on your index or splash page will get you booted out of google eventually. It may work for a little while, But eventually google will catch you, and bump you out.
I have first hand experience with this: As the company I currently work for (d.o. being my LLC on the side) builds flash based web sites, and we were using this method to optimize our sites.
