S U C C E S S !!! I got a tip at another forum from Mike (Photoshop Tutorials, Free Fonts, QuarkXPress, Graphics Tutorials) -- by loading the font into the Mac System Folder instead of activating it through Suitcase, I am able to use the Open Type font in Illustrator. Yippee!
