The first question is a tough one. It all depends on what kind of company they are, if there's a chance you could move on or fill in, in their web development/multimedia dept. Then yes it can't help. But if it primarily a printer's they will not be interested one bit. (You find that with printers).
They could see it as if you are using print design as a stop-gap until you land a great web/multimedia job. Like I said it's tough one.

Take a few pieces of your best work. Don't try taking too much as a few not so good pieces could bring down the standard on the portfolio overall.
