Uni is for the 'middlies'
For creative industries - like us designers - it's the result that counts. If someone's happy with their logo or website or brochure, they're not going to ask to see your paper (degree).
I've taught graphic design at university and I'll tell you, I had three types of students. The poor and uncreative, who were always destined to fail (or if they fluked a degree, they'd never rate as a designer), the highly talented students for whom the 3-4 years at uni was a waste of... 3-4 years. And the middle students. These are the ones who could never be self-taught, but who benefited from the education. Therefore it all depends what type you are. I'd suggest if you're highly talented, just get a job and wing it.
