#176--i'm not entirely sure on this one, but i belive the origin of saying "bless you" when someone sneezes is because sneezing was thought to be a sign of the devil or a demon inhabiting someone. by saying "bless you" you were literally blessing them, and wishing for them to get rid of the demon in them
#187--i'm assuming you mean while sneezing, and if so this was disproven by mythbusters when they had someone sneeze and hold their eyes open. you can find it on youtube i'm sure
